This blog has been a bit neglected of late while our energies have been on other blogs and other things. Here is a reblog from Smokers Writes which I realised is a kind of follow up to a post Sophie made last year. Meanwhile we will try to think of some new naughtiness to post in the near future. I guess that in some parts of the world people will be surprised to know that until very recently (and still now in some places) both teachers and older students were allowed to smoke in designated areas in school grounds here in Switzerland. Recently there have been changes, as a result of which my daughter has found herself at the centre of a little controversy in her school.

But first a little background information about some of the laws and culture related to smoking in Switzerland. Basically for a long time we have been a country of smokers. Laws relating to smoking differ from Canton to Canton (state to state) but there is no minimum age when people are allowed to smoke. In my youth most teenagers smoked and it is not so different now.
